"A beautiful life begins at home."
A native Californian, Sarah Barnes moved to Austin 11 years ago and now calls it home. With a background in advertising and project management, Sarah began working in interior design after buying and designing her own house and loving the entire process. Using her natural eye for aesthetics, she slowly started helping friends and neighbors with their furnishings and remodels and made the leap full time, working first for a luxury residential firm and then a boutique hospitality company.
With a focus in residential furnishings and construction, Sarah utilizes her project management background on a daily basis, assuring all of her projects are as efficient and organized as possible so that she and her Clients can focus on the fun part - design! While she considers her personal style to be 'California Eclectic', she prides herself on being able to work within many styles, from transitional to farmhouse to mid-century modern, and everything in-between. She is adept at not only creating beautiful spaces for her Clients, but functional as well. After all, a well-designed space is meant to be lived-in.

Full Service Design
Most of our projects are full service design, which means starting from a blank canvas and designing a custom residential space from start to finish. This can include a single room or an entire house, and can be anything from ground-up construction to a remodel, or strictly interior furnishings and accessories.
We'll make sure to keep your design and specification selections organized and on-budget, acting as the liaison between our Clients and the many tradespeople it takes to make a house a (beautiful) home.
This service includes everything from specification schedules to custom furniture + accessory sourcing, space layouts, design board creation, and coordination and oversight of turnkey installation. You do the fun part while we handle the details. By Barnes Design will be dedicated to your project from the moment we sign on until you are moved in!
